Innocence

This is dedicated to my friend who I consider my twin. She is pure, she hasn't experienced the world's cruelty but now I think she's slowing but steadily gaining knowledge and doing her best to change for her happiness.

Sheltered from the world, you were hidden away

But now you see your prison and you know you can't stay

Your laugh, smile, and whole being is so pure and innocent

You saw the world as a place so vast and brilliant

Then while out learning all you could in the world

Your whole world just disappeared in a whirl

Bad people came and tried to hurt you so much

You didn't know the pain they could bring with one touch

The pain and tears soon came with the experience

You hoped it be better with just it's disappearance

The scars of the past won't go away

But your friends are here to stay

We'll always be here just for you, your smile, your laugh and your innocence

Don't let them hurt you, it's just a matter of time to show off your brilliance

Don't fear the darkness the world has to show you

Just look up to the light and see the beautiful view
